With more than three centuries of history, this heritage has a unique trajectory and tradition, rooted in viticulture. It reflects cycles of constant change and adaptation to new challenges, aware that there can be no future without knowing and embracing the past.

Casa dos Lagares

This house with a warehouse and wine presses was built in 1923 with the purpose of being a residence. It was restored in the 1990s with the aim of revitalizing wine production. During this process, the wine presses were reused, and a patented mechanical treadling robot was developed, pioneering in the Douro Region and throughout Portugal. This family property maintains traditional winemaking methods, ensuring competitiveness while preserving unique characteristics.

In 2003, the museological space of the Casa dos Lagares was established, bringing together a collection of instruments, tools, and documents that illustrate the journey of several generations of a family from the Douro. Throughout its history, there has always been a commitment to the protection, maintenance, and use of authentic settings that reflect a way of life. These spaces now aim to become venues for culture and leisure.

Casa Vilela

The Casa Vilela is a living house with a wine warehouse, a woodshed and a backyard, located at the center of Cheires.

The growth of viticulture in the eighteenth century, and the demarcations of the region, rose the interest of investors, thus leading to the construction of big houses for their seasonal or permanent residence.

This was the case of the Casa Vilela, which was built in the late eighteenth century by a family from Vila Real, during the absolutist regime. The house was later purchased by the family Vilela de Morais.
